Are you an eagle or a duck!

When you travel to New York City, the most interesting part of your trip is when you plan to take a taxi after leaving the plane and the airport. If you find a taxi to enter the city and reach your destination, you are in luck. If the taxi driver knows the city and finds your address, you have met another luck. If you know the driver’s language and can talk to him, then you are in luck, and if the driver is not angry, you are facing something else. In short, to reach the destination, you have to pass many obstacles.
Harvey McKay says: “One day after leaving the plane, I was standing in the area waiting for a taxi when suddenly a driver with a clean white shirt and a black bow tie jumped out of his car, approached me and after greeting and introduction “Please put your luggage in the trunk,” he said. Then he handed me a small card and said, “Please pay attention to the phrase that defines my mission.”

It was written on the card: “I will take you to your destination in the shortest time, at the lowest cost, in the safest way possible and in a friendly environment.”

I was so surprised that I said that the plane landed in another Korea instead of New York. The driver opened the door and I got into a very decorated car. After the driver got behind the wheel, he turned to me and said, “Would you like some coffee before we go?” Here is a flask of regular coffee and another flask of special coffee for those on a diet.”

I said: “No, I don’t want coffee, but I agree with soda.” The driver asked: “I have both soft drinks and fruit juice in the freezer.” Then, giving a bottle of soda, he moved on and said: “If you feel like reading, Time, Sports and Image and America Today magazines are at your disposal.”

Then, once again, he handed me another small card and said, “Here’s a list of radio stations you can use. In addition, I can give you information about sightseeing and historical monuments and local news of New York City, and I can keep quiet if you don’t want to. In any case, I am at your service.”

“How many years have you been working this way?” I asked him. He replied: “Two years.” I asked: “How many years have you been doing this?” He answered: “Seven years.” “How did you work the first five years?” I asked. He said: “I complained about everything and everyone, about the many buses and taxis that always block the road, and about the salary that did not promise a better life. One day I was sitting in my car listening to the radio when Wayne Dyer started speaking. The theme of his speech was that you should not growl like the ducks that keep walking, come to your senses and soar like eagles.

After hearing that radio speech, I looked around and saw scenes that I had closed my eyes to until then. Dirty taxis whose drivers were constantly grumbling, were never cheerful and did not treat their passengers properly. Wayne Dyer’s words had such an impact on me that I decided to make a general revision in my views and beliefs.

“What difference did it make in your life?” I asked. He said: “In the first year, my income doubled and last year it quadrupled.

The thing that surprised me was that in the last year or two, I shared this story with at least thirty taxi drivers, but only two of them were willing to hear it and welcomed it. The rest, like ducks, resorted to all kinds of excuses and excuses and somehow convinced themselves that they could not choose such a method…
